Spectro-Polarimetry Imaging filTer For Identification in REal time – SPIT-FIRE

Submission summary

The SPIT-FIRE consortium has the objective to develop, build and characterise an Acousto-Optical Tuneable Filter (AOTF) system for optimised environmental markers identification, such as water sediment loads analysis or invasive species cartography. This system presents simultaneously two technical features: it is both a hyperspectral and a polarimetric imaging system. It is fully controlled by electronics with a random scan of spectral bands and spectral selectivity adjustment possible.

Thanks to his architecture based on two Acousto-Optic Polarimetric Tuneable Filters in cascade with multi-transducers, the system will offer multiple operating possibilities, such as: separate and simultaneous selection of single / multiple wavelengths and their polarization.

The proposed device finds applications in geo-sciences, environment sciences and smart agriculture for example. The features of the SPIT-FIRE tool promote faster processing as they allow for oriented research of spectro-polarimetric data.

The consortium gathers the IEMN acousto-optic team for the system design and AA SA for the development of multi-transducer technology and of the devices.
