Stilbene Innovation – StilNov

This project consists in developing a joint laboratory between ACTICHEM (private company) and the laboratory GESVAB (EA 3675 - University of Bordeaux), within the "Institut des Sciences de la Vigneet du Vin" (ISVV). The laboratory will be located in the ISVV building in Bordeaux (France). The main topics will be to develop active ingredients extracted from the vine and wine in the field of health and well-being (cosmetics and dietary supplements).

ACTICHEM is a French company specializing in the development of vine active extracts for nutraceutical and cosmetic domains. ACTICHEM is leader in the production of vine extracts titrated in resveratrol and its derivatives, which represent one of the major compounds involved in the "French Paradox".
The GESVAB is an ISVV laboratory dedicated to polyphenol studies. GESVAB has developed internationally recognized expertise in the topic of resveratrol derivative compounds (phytochemical characterization and biological activities).

In this context, we wish to create a joint laboratory under the tender "ANR Labcom Edition 2013". The objective of this joint laboratory, named StilNov, will be to develop new vine and wine products using the combined skills of GESVAB and ACTICHEM.
The StilNov laboratory will propose the following developments:
• extraction, isolation and identification of resveratrol derivatives ;
• development of methods for producing purified compounds ;
• production of a range of innovative products based on resveratrol derivatives ;
• biologicalactivity studies such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.

In addition, the authenticity of the products will be investigated. Indeed, with regard to the developing Asian markets, vine products are subject to counterfeiting. The objective will be to develop analytical methods to ensure the authenticity and quality of vine products. This theme could be extended to other food products.

Service contracts between GESVAB and ACTICHEM have led to very positive results. The pooling of expertise and resources within the framework of a joint laboratory will accelerate the development of new products and new applications.

The precautions taken in setting up and developing tools and methods through a quality process (ISO 9001) will give the joint laboratory all the necessary credentials.
