Web Audio Visualization and Edition – WAVE

Submission summary

The WAVE project aims to formalize new means of editing, visualization, and interaction with temporal audiovisual objects present on the Internet. It will lead to the conception and development of software components concerning user interfaces and interaction, digital interfaces, client/server interfaces, and the exchange of data. These software components will be the result of an analysis of expert-level musical practices confronted with the use of ordinary applications and web standards, with the aim of offering innovative ways of using them.

The project will integrate these software components to develop new services and improve existing services. New means of using and sharing musical and audiovisual documents online, these services will be put in place as a part of the project and made available to users by project partners in the framework of the development of their products and/or new commercial offers.

The project will use W3C standards (particularly HTML5 and new Web platform) completing them if necessary as well as the possibilities of interaction made possible by new terminals so that we offer coherent interfaces, accessible and innovative, as well as new user experiences adapted for the consultation, interaction, annotation, transformation, and sharing of temporal objects. In a protean Internet technology context, the formalization and object-oriented programming of multiple interfaces in different technologies using W3C standards and recommendations will contribute to the emergence of a truly hypermedia and interactive web. In a context where cultural industries are in crisis, and particularly those having an appeal to music, the industrial and commercial partners can exploit these uses and therefore new markets via innovative listening and interactive consultation/reading/viewing systems and improved with the temporal flow on the web.jet WAVE will formalize new methods of visualization, publishing, and interaction with temporal audiovisual objects broadcast/available/published online.
