Nanostructuration d’antimoniures multifonctionnels pour microsystèmes – NANOMICROSTIL

Submission summary

NANOMICROSTIL is a project that focuses on intermetallic materials with complex crystal structure, potentially good candidates for thermoelectric
applications. First, a multi-scale methodology, from crystalline structure to nanostructuration and Calphad approaches, will be undertaken on each
material. The investigations will be finalized by an evaluation of the feasibility to apply an inkjet technique as a way of processing the materials.
Indeed, the appealing and ultimate goal of the NANOMICROSTIL project is the fabrication, via an inkjet technique, of thermoelectric micro-converter.
The aim of the proposed research is first, to control the elaboration of nanomaterials using an original route, and then to determine their physical
properties, to control their morphology and finally to prospect their possible multifunctional behavior and in particular their thermoelectric potential.
The materials in question will be based on the structures of Zn4Sb3 and A5B3 (Cr5B3, W5Si3 and Mn5Si3) in multi component systems containing
3d and 4f elements. In terms, self-adaptative materials will be targeted. Elaboration of nanomaterials should permit the drastic decrease of the thermal conductivity, thus improving
