Résumé du projet

In gathering at a single site (the Centre of Excellence for plain images, at Tourcoing) some one hundred researchers in SHS, cognitive sciences, mathematics and programing, the Équipex Innovative Research in Digital and Interactive Visual Environments (IrDIVE) project has as its central objective the development of an innovative technological platform dedicated to multidisciplinary studies in the field of Visual Sciences and Cultures in close cooperation with the socio-economic and artistic worlds.  The scientific projects bear on the production, reception and use of digital visual content from the behavioural, cognitive, technological, historical, cultural and economic point of view, and come in support of the Interdisciplinary Cluster for the Advancement of Visual Studies. Within a multidisciplinary approach the research program is organized around three themes: Theme 1: Cultural and social constructions of visual artefacts.  Theme 1 bears on studies of human cultures through the prism of visual products (images, artefacts, signs, architecture, etc.) and the functions (political, religious, social, etc.) of those products. Theme 2: Vision, Cognition and Interactions.  Theme 2 focuses on studies of perceptual, neurocognitive and emotional mechanisms supporting the reception of visual content and analyses the social, psychological and technological aspects of humans' interactions with digital visualization tools. Theme 3: Arts, Sciences and Technologies. Theme 3 focuses on studies of artistic creations in digital visual environments, thus favouring and promoting close working relationships between artists and scientists.
