Research programmes > Programme planning 2012 > Orientations for 2012
The orientations of ANR programme planning for 2012 were validated by the Governing Board on October 27, 2011.
The orientations for 2012 take up the content proposed in 2010 for the 2011-2013 three-yearly cycle to a very large extent. However the progamme planning for 2012 takes into account evolutions: international calls for proposals are usually planned on a yearly basis, and some new thematic programmes are initiated in 2012 (Social Determinants of Health; Ecotechnologies and Ecoservices; Societies and Environmental Changes; Interdisciplinary Research on the Future of the Mediterranean Region; Computational Neurosciences). Non-thematic programmes (Blanc, Blanc international, JCJC, OH-Risk, Chairs of Excellence, Industrial Chairs will represent 50% of ANR's budget dedicated to calls for proposals in 2012.
The ANR's thematic programmes aim to act as a catalyst and amplifier for research themes that emerge from the different areas of society (public authorities, scientific communities, and industry). The programme planning document details the orientations for 2012; the structure of the document follows the priorities of the SNRI (National Strategy and Innovation).
As in the previous years, this document contains programme sheets describing the scientific and technological priorities established according to the economic, social and environmental stakes.
The ANR's programme planning is a highly iterative process. It involves extensive consultationof the national scientific community to determine future research needs, wether in fundamental or applied research.
The programme plan is developed on the basis of the work of eight Strategy and Planning Boards in the following areas:
As in 2011, the ANR will put out its calls for proposals in two waves:
The first concerns the majority of the thematic programmes and spans from November 2011 to March 2012, for funding during 2012.
The second wave will be opened in October 2012 for funding in early 2013, and concerns the following thematic programmes:
