"Economic Impact of Research and Competitiveness" component

Part of ANR's mission is to promote technical innovation and technology transfer as well as academia-industry partnerships.

To this end, ANR supports projects carried out in partnership with enterprises with a direct impact on the economy and competitiveness via the “collaborative research projects involving enterprises” (PRCE) instrument, accessible through the generic call for proposals.

In addition to this instrument, the agency also proposes specific instruments subject to dedicated calls for proposals:

  • The LabCom instrument promotes the creation of joint laboratories between public research bodies and SMEs or intermediate-sized companies (ETI). The Labcom instrument is subject to specific call for proposals, with applications accepted on a continuous flow basis.

  • In order to facilitate the establishment of chairs in public research laboratories, co-created with enterprises and co-funded by ANR and enterprises, the Industrial Chairs instrument is subject to a specific call for proposals.

  • In order to develop contractual research between public research structures and actors from the business world, ANR manages the Carnot Institute label on behalf of the French Research Ministry. In order to make the Carnot programme a success and ensure effective leverage, the "Valorisation - Carnot Institutes" programme is allocated a budget under the Investments for the Future programme. ANR also acts and manages on behalf of the French State.

This component also establishes relationships between ANR and competitiveness clusters in order to bring public research findings more in line with the needs of private industry. As was the case in the past, ANR’s 2016 calls will be open to labelling by the clusters.
