Energy efficient and decarbonised systems (SEED)

This call for proposals is now closed. You can view all open calls for proposals by clicking here.

The objectives of the SEED programme are organised around three thematic axes.

The first one is aimed at improving the overall energy efficiency of industrial systems and units of primary energy production, (excluding production of renewable electricity, nuclear reactor or bio-energy addressed in other programmes), while minimizing emissions of greenhouse gases and global environmental footprints of the solutions adopted. A particular interest is brought to heat valorisation and energy storage. The second objective of this programme is to promote energy equipment for buildings, especially for future low consumption buildings, and energy storage at different time scales. Finally, the third objective is to develop, reduce costs, and ensure the safety of the technologies for the capture and storage of CO2 emitted from industrial facilities, including its energetic valorisation (CCUS).

The research will focus either on the development of innovative components, or on integrated systems approaches (couplings, cogeneration, transverse aspects in the CCUS chain, etc.), and will include modeling and experimental aspects.

The programme aims to strengthen the position of the French academic research in the field of energy efficiency and energy decarbonisation, to attract new research communities, and to promote the establishment of public - private partnerships.

The programme is open to international cooperation, particularly in the field of CO2 capture and storage, in order to share the research efforts still needed to enable the demonstration and deployment of CCS technologies in the world. A bilateral agreement has been signed with Canada (NSERC) on this specific topic. The specific conditions of this collaboration are described in the "Conditions of submission, evaluation and selection of Franco-Canadian projects", available below.
