The French National Research Agency (ANR) launches the 2013 edition of the "Concepts, Systems and Tools for Global Security" Programme in partnership with the Armaments Procurement Agency (DGA) and the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN).

The present call for proposals aims to give rise to high-level scientific and technological research and to develop knowledge of a transverse and multidisciplinary field, which includes among other aspects, work of a collaborative nature requiring the participation of experts in the social sciences and humanities.

According to the global security area, CSOSG 2013 will have two main objectives. Firstly, the programme aims to attract high-quality projects that respond to national priorities. Secondly, the programme aims to pave the way for the Horizon 2020 Programme, which although following on from FP7/ESRP, will also cover a number of new themes.

Due to the success of the 2010 and 2012 calls, a transverse theme is proposed this year, under the title: ‚ÄúBreakthrough research in security‚ÄĚ. This theme aims to foster proposals that are mainly long-term oriented and that are likely to bring about high level innovation and groundbreaking concepts.

The call for proposals is divided into four main themes:

  1. Breakthrough research in security
  2. Protecting citizens and infrastructure
  3. Resilience and crisis management
  4. The fight against cyber crime

The call open to public-private partnership research projects. However, projects relating solely to the social sciences and humanities and to the ‚ÄúBreakthrough research in security‚ÄĚ theme may be put forward through the mobilisation of research bodies.
