6th NEURON joint transnational call for European research projects on mental disorders. Transnational section of the ANR call SAMENTA 2013

This call for proposals is now closed. You can view all open calls for proposals by clicking here.

The ANR joins the ERA-Net NEURON II to launch a sixth call for research proposals to fund research on mental disorders. Sixteen countries from the European Research Area and abroad are joining this call: Austria, Belgium, Canada (and Québec), Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden.
Research proposals should cover at least one of the following areas:

  • Fundamental research on the pathogenesis and/or etiology of mental disorders. This may include the development of innovative or shared resources and technologies. The relevance of the research to disease must be clearly indicated.
  • Research to develop new strategies for (early) diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation procedures for mental disorders.

The ERA-Net NEURON funding organisations particularly wish to promote multidisciplinary work and to encourage translational research proposals that combine basic and clinical approaches. Clinical studies are eligible up to the point of proof of concept. Research on dementia is not included in the present call.
Research proposals must show a clear added value in funding the transnational collaboration. Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of three research groups from at least three different countries of funding organisations participating in this call (see list above).

Each submitted proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of five research groups from at least three different countries participating to this call (see list above). Funding will be awarded for a maximum of three years. The ANR will fund only the French partners in the selected projects.

The NEURON joint transnational call 2013 is the transnational section of the 2013 "Mental health - Addictions” (SAMENTA) ANR call.

SUBMISSION:

The submission and evaluation process will be managed by the NEURON II Joint Call Secretariat (JCS).

There will be a two-stage submission procedure:

  • Joint pre-proposals (in English) must be uploaded to the submission website. Submission (electronic submission only) must be completed before March 11th, 2013 at 23:59 CET. Only the pre-proposals that will be selected by the international Scientific Evaluation Committee will be invited to submit a full proposal.
  • Joint full applications (in English) will only be accepted from applicants who are invited by the JCS. Full-applications should be submitted electronically on the same submission website. The deadline for submission of full-applications (electronic submission only) is: June 25th 2013 at 23:59 CET.

Additional information can be found on the NEURON II website.

Whilst applications will be submitted jointly by research groups from several countries, individual groups will be funded by the individual funding organisation of their country/region that is participating in the NEURON call 2013. Applicants are therefore subject to eligibility criteria of individual funding organisations. If selected for funding, each French partner involved in a given project will have to sign a grant with the ANR. French applicants are therefore subject to ANR eligibility criteria and the funding of French applicants will be made according to the ANR rules. Please read carefully the “Appendix for French participants” (see below).
