European-wide research strategy to tackle Neurodegenerative Diseases
On the 7th February 2012, the EU Joint Programme in Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) launched a European-wide strategy to coordinate and prioritize research aimed at tackling the enormous challenge of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
The goals of the European-wide strategy are:
- To develop new treatments and preventive strategies
- To improve health and social care approaches
- To raise awareness and de-stigmatise Alzheimer’s and other Neurodegenerative disorders
- To alleviate the economic and social burden of these diseases.
