Governing Board

Taking all major decisions, the Governing Board’s role (GB) is to define the general frame of agency's operations. It is responsible for questions relating to science and research policy, discusses the financial planning for the coming years and adopts the annual budget. The GB has 10 members. Although no pre-set quota exists for the distribution of seats, efforts are made to split the seats equitably between scientific and academic fields. The Chair is chosen from among the 5 highly-qualified scientific personalities.

  • Patrick Hetzel, Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Director General for Higher Education and Professional Integration
  • Luc Rousseau, Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment, Director General for Competitiveness, Industry and Services

  • Alain Aspect, Institut d'Optique, Head of the Atom Optics group
  • Françoise Mélonio, Paris Sorbonne University,  Professor, French and Compared Litterature Department
