Résumé du projet

Strengthening the competitiveness of TSE as a world-leading research center in economics continues to be a major objective of IAM-TSE. 2016 was the 1st full year of the newly reinforced hallmark talent policy, a highly convexified reward scheme (OVAs) that targets the best researchers without increasing the base of benefiting researchers, as suggested in the 2015 Labex mid-term review. With 2 top-level senior recruitments and a positive outcome in at least 2 retention situations, the new policy showed its 1st signs of success. The junior recruitment strategy based on a long tenure track was expanded and reinforced: with 3 new Assistant Profs, there are now 17 tenure-track faculty members within IAM-TSE, a new record. The rules guiding the tenure process were completed and successfully tested, with a standard 7 year tenure clock, an elaborate outside tenure review process, and the 1st tenure decision in 2016. Two tenure-track Assistant Profs won ERC Starting Grants and tenure-track faculty contributed one quarter of top-level publications, providing external validation for their quality. On the organization and governance side, 2016 saw a very smooth implementation of the merger of the 3 previous research labs into one (TSE-R), a smooth handover in the majority of key management positions, and a deep involvement in the attempts to secure the future of the Toulouse Idex. Publications evolved positively, with 129 articles (+7%) of which 20 in the very best journals, and a noticeable increase in books. Faculty stood out with a number of prestigious prizes and grant awards. IAM-TSE made progress in international rankings in Economics and is on track to fulfill the ambitious benchmarks on metrics of faculty recognition set out in the Labex project. There were many positive actions and results in knowledge transfer, dissemination and outreach, among them a well-received new format for the TSE Forum and 2 highly visible, prize-winning book publications for a wide audience.
