Résumé du projet

ATTOLAB is a collaborative project centered on ultrafast dynamics in matter. It brings together nine laboratories representing eight research institutions. Ultrafast dynamics (UFD) aims at tracking ultrafast processes which develop in matter at the shortest attosecond (1 as = 10-18 s), femtosecond (fs) to picosecond (ps) timescale. It particularly focusses on the coherent ultrafast motion of electronic and nuclear wavepackets at the corresponding angström-nm space scale. ATTOLAB equipment are installed in three sites of the Université Paris-Saclay, Laboratoire Interactions, Dynamique et Lasers (LIDYL, CEA-l’Orme-les-merisiers), Laboratoire d’Optique Appliquée (LOA, ENSTA-Palaiseau) and Laboratoire Charles Fabry (LCF, IOGS-Palaiseau). At LIDYL, two advanced lasers systems and secondary light sources in the extreme-UV (XUV) – funded in Tranche 1 (oct 2012-jun 2016) & Tranche 2 (jan 2014-dec 2019) - are coupled to experimental endstations for gas phase (T2; ISMO, SOLEIL, LIDYL partners) and condensed phase UFD (T1&T2; LPMS, SPEC, LPS, LSI partners). At LOA, two advanced lasers systems are coupled to experimental endstation (T1) for plasma physics. At LCF, the CEMOX platform is dedicated to fabrication of special optics for manipulation of attosecond XUV light pulses. Installation of the equipment required redevelopment of adapted buildings in the three sites. The EQUIPEX financial support and the ATTOLAB collaborative structure made it possible to obtain complementary grants in associated projects, which crucially contributed to ATTOLAB achievement in T1. The six main equipments were operational and their exploitation started in 2016. ATTOLAB platform will be open to external users from 2018 (20% of total access). The project stimulated joint R&D with and technological transfer to industrials in, e.g., ultrafast laser technology, advanced optical instrumentation, target technology for light-matter interaction, charged particle detection.
