Résumé du projet

With all its tools operating in 2012, the labex LANEF was able to start all scheduled calls in due time. Regular weekly seminars and one-day thematic workshops help creating a spirit of thematic alliance in the 9 fields of development of the labex. Two equipment calls were opened (budget 1.6 M€) and all the successful projects are now operating. With two PhD calls and one chair-of-excellence call each year, we could recruit 38 PhD students (9 defended in 2015-2016), 2 postdoc scientists and 9 visiting professors. The last calls are currently open. The main domains are energy, nano for healthcare and biology, photonics/spintronics/quantum nanoelectronics, instrumentation at low temperature, and theory. In all cases, two specific criteria are considered: an international cursus, and a program with a synergy between the laboratories of the labex or with R&D/healthcare laboratories; one result is a good structuring effect on the collaborations between our 5 labs, and an enhanced potential for applications. We have identified a new challenge: quantum engineering, where it appears as extremely timely to facilitate a convergence between scientists and private sector; we obtained two fundings on this domain, a MSCA “Cofund” (18 PhD grants) and a “cross disciplinary funding” from the Grenoble IDEX (10 PhD grants and 2 chairs). The number of publications reaches 31 in 2016 (23 making reference to “LANEF” or to “ANR-10-LABX-51-01”. We notice an impact on the exploitation of results with the private-sector, with 4 startup (1 created and 3 in maturation within the technology transfer office (SATT) in Grenoble) which acknowledge a contribution from the labex. Our international networking, initially developed towards Lausanne (EPFL) and Tsukuba (AIST, NIMS, University), with a good success and in good synergy with the IDEX, is expanding towards Karlsruhe. Several actions have also facilitated the diffusion of scientific information at different levels.
