Résumé du projet

The Labex (Laboratoire d’Excellence) UnivEarthS is an original partnership between Earth Sciences and Physics of the Universe. It allows to develop innovative interdisciplinary projects, assembling three founding members (laboratories IPGP, APC et AIM) as well as the french aerospace lab ONERA. The objective of this project is to study the processes of evolution, distraction and emergence which modeled the history of the Universe and of the Earth and which govern their actual dynamics. In its initial proposal (2010), UnivEarthS comprised 24 projects (WP), designed to be carried out for at least the first two years. The work really started towards the end of 2011 and, a year later, 14-15 recruitments took place. Throughout 2016 the program evolved to a total of 19 WP. Consulted annually since 2012, the International Scientific Advisory Committee (SC) effectuates a careful evaluation of all WP. Generally speaking, the CS is «very satisfied by the quality and the vitality of the projects. There is a lot of progress monitored, important new ideas and proposals for future collaborations». Following the normal evolution of the global budget of the Labex, a lowering of the budgets for the large majority of the projects was applied. According to the recommendations of the CS (on November 2016) 2 projets saw their attributed budgets increased, 2 new projects (via the call for «interface» projects) were launched opening the dynamics of the Labex to new researchers, and 1 «exploratory» project evolved to «interface» project. Finally the CS recommended the definitive cessation of 1 project. UnivEarthS supports several training actions: the doctoral school STEP’UP proposing common training events to students of the Earth Sciences, Environment and Astrophysics; 2 MOOCs on the subjects of gravity and volcanologic physics; the organization of an annual Fall School aimed to students (Master and PhD) and lyceum teachers; the launch of the student nano-satellite project IGOsat.
