Résumé du projet

The Super Separator Spectrometer, S3, is a device designed for experiments with the very high intensity stable heavy ion beams of the superconducting linear accelerator of the SPIRAL2 Project at GANIL. S3 is designed to combine high acceptance, a high degree of primary beam rejection, and high mass resolving power to enable new opportunities in several physics domains in nuclear physics and atomic physics. The spectrometer comprises large aperture superconducting multipole triplets, 3 magnetic dipoles, and 1 electrostatic dipole arranged as a momentum achromat followed by a mass separator. Various detection set-ups are foreseen, especially a delayed spectroscopy array (SIRIUS), a low energy branch (LEB) and an atomic physics collider (FISIC). Achievements (Tranche 1): April 2011: S3 project management approved by the Steering Committee October 2011: EQUIPEX S3 kick off meeting (EQUIPEX WP1) July 2012: Supraconducting Multipoles Triplets (SMT) order placement (EQUIPEX WP3.2) January 2013: Second annual EQUIPEX S3 collaboration meeting held at GANIL (EQUIPEX WP1) February 2013: SMT Final design acceptance & Accord Consortium signed June 2013: ANR REGLIS3 selected for funding: 737k€ July 2013: Open triplet order placement (EQUIPEX WP3.4) Sept. 2013: International ANR Fit FISIC selected for funding 741k€ March 2014: S3 collaboration meeting (115 participants - EQUIPEX WP1) March 2014: ANR Fit FISIC kickoff meeting April 2014: Cryogenic system order placement (EQUIPEX WP3.3) October 2014: ANR REGLIS3 kickoff meeting December 2014: Specific infrastructure completed (EQUIPEX WP8) In 2015: New funds obtained to complete the project (CPER: 0,85 M€, CPIER Axe Paris-Seine 1,5 M €, FEDER 1,75 M€) February 2016: Cryogenic system delivery in the S3 cave (EQUIPEX WP3.3) March 2016: Open triplet delivery (EQUIPEX WP3.4) Laser spectroscopy achievement : Nature Communications 8, 14520 (2017) March 2017: S3 collaboration meeting (EQUIPEX WP1) & S3 Collaboration Council kickoff
