Résumé du projet

The hybrid magnet under construction at LNCMI-Grenoble in collaboration with CEA-Saclay, will be a modular experimental platform offering to the scientific community various possibilities of maximum field values and useful warm bore diameters from the combination of superconducting and resistive coils. A maximum field of at least 43 T will be produced in a 34 mm diameter bore with 24 MW electrical power. Other field configurations will also be provided such as 18 T in 375 mm diameter and 9 T in 800 mm diameter the latter value being obtained with the superconducting coil alone. The main objective of the Equipex LaSUP is to built, install and commission the large volume superconducting coil based on Nb-Ti/Cu and superfluid He technologies as well as the mechanical, electrical and cryogenic infrastructures necessary for operation. The cold mass weight is 28 tones whereas the total mass of the hybrid magnet is 53 tons. Complements to funding were obtained from CNRS, the FEDER and the region Rhône-Alpes. Details studies and design have been finalized, thoroughly reviewed and validated in 5 steps by an external committee of recognized international experts in the fields of cryogenics, superconductivity resistive and hybrid magnets. The production phase of all equipments is well engaged with some of them already delivered, installed and commissioned at LNCMI such as the cryogenic plant for the production of liquid He (150 l/h) and the power supply for the large superconducting coil with its dump resistors. The electronics for the protection, control and monitoring of the superconducting coil are in the manufacturing phase. The industrial assembly line of the superconducting conductor was internalized at LNCMI and the production is well advanced for just-in-time delivery to the coil manufacturer. Both main remaining industrial contracts for the cryogenic satellite (height and dia. of 9 and 2.2 m, weight of 8 tones) and the cryostat (vol. of 7 m3) have been signed in 2016.
