Résumé du projet

AMAIZING gathers 23 public and private partners to develop knowledge and breeding methods for creation of new varieties of improved maize. With 9 workpackages (WPs), AMAIZING combines genetics, genomics, and ecophysiology to perform genomic predictions and association studies to identify polymorphisms responsible for traits of agronomic interest such as yield, quality and tolerance to abiotic stress. WP1: Meetings were organized. WP2: Data management and visualization tools were improved and populated with data from WP3, 4, 6. WP3: Manuscripts were finalized on B73/F2 presence-absence variants (T3.1) and European maize origin and diversity based on 21 M SNPs (T3.4). Experiments were organized for de novo genome assembled of new lines. A new mapping software was developed (T3.2). Differentially methylated regions related to cold stress were detected (T3.3). WP4: A manuscript finalized on the originality of flint collection (T4.1). Heterosis2 design phenotyped and new flint DH lines produced (T4.2). Assembly of genotypic data delivered (T4.3), new methods developed for imputation (T4.3), panel optimization and genomic selection (T4.4). WP5: 2015 experiments on heterosis and dent (cold tolerance, WUE and NUE) panels analyzed and continued. QTL detected for agronomic traits and proteome. WP6: use of introgression populations and transgenic resources intensified to analyse genes/regions of interest for cold tolerance, phenology, WUE and NUE (32 regions ongoing). WP7: New datasets analyzed with a mixed model (T7.1), genetic analysis of response parameters conducted, new bayesian method for parameter  estimation developed (T7.2), effect of climate change and variety choice strategies evaluated with simulations (T7.3). WP8: Socioeconomical analysis of partner incentives continued (T8.6). Use of specific alleles was continued and GS prediction equations transmitted to partners for evaluation. WP9: Preparation of a new website and a large 2018 international conference initated
